English is the most widely used language in the world. With the increase of international exchanges, translation is particularly important. What are the skills of English translation?
1. Vocabulary skills: most English words are polysemy, and the correct meaning must be selected in translation. There are three methods of word meaning selection: collocation selection according to context, part of speech selection and specialty selection. On the basis of understanding the original meaning of English words, they can be translated according to the extended meaning or with antonyms according to the habits of Chinese, that is, the so-called reverse translation of the text and reverse translation; In English, many nouns, gerunds and non finite verbs transformed from verbs can be transformed into verbs in Chinese translation.
2. Word order skills: in English, short attributive clauses, appositions expressing identity, etc. can often be mentioned in front of the antecedent (center word) when translated into Chinese. For the long sentences of jumping and montage in some English languages, the translator needs to carry out "comprehensive management" and re combine them to realize the meaning of "translation is re creation" and summarize them into a good translation.
3. Combinatorial skills: some sentences are formally a sentence due to the relationship of "connectives", but the meaning of many components of the sentence is independent. It is entirely possible to break them into short sentences. The position of disconnection is generally optional at these conjunctions. Conjunctions are usually composed of relative pronouns, relative adverbs, independent adverbs, accompanying verbs and so on.
4. Conversion skills: the conversion of sentence components is mainly caused by the collocation of verbs and nouns in the translation changing their grammatical relationship in the original text. Some passive voice sentences can be translated directly according to the sequential translation method, but most passive voice sentences need to be transformed in order to make the translation more appropriate to the original meaning.
